Word Word files can be read on any computer that supports MS Office. You can download a Word version of MetaPlume eBooks from Smashwords. Android Apps Android apps are not eBooks but some developers and publishers release book-like material as Android apps as an extra distribution channel for their eBook titles. This is especially true for Children’s picture books and spiritual texts. Android apps are found on the Android Market, the app store run by Google. An eBook released in the app format is simply installed on an Android device like any other app and no eBook reading app is required. The format is technically an .apk file.
